Quick answer: 5:16 can be set to shield Instagram on an iPhone after you grant Screen Time permission and select Instagram. Completing a short Scripture interaction grants fifteen minutes for Instagram. Public installation is not yet available.

What can I do with iPhone's built-in controls?

Apple's Screen Time offers app limits and related controls. Those may be enough if a time limit is the boundary you want. 5:16 adds a different step: a voluntary Scripture pause before a bounded allowance. It uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks for the app selection and shield.

How does the Instagram setup work in 5:16?

  1. Grant 5:16 Screen Time access on your own iPhone.
  2. Select Instagram as the individual app to protect.
  3. When the system shield appears, choose the handoff to 5:16.
  4. Read the short passage and choose a phrase that stands out.
  5. See your fifteen-minute Instagram allowance and its end time.

The Scripture screen is in 5:16, not in Apple's shield. After completing it, you may need to open Instagram yourself. “Not now” leaves Instagram paused; Emergency access or protection off lets you enter without the Scripture pause.

Is this a hard block?

No. You can turn protection off or revoke authorization. A founder-device test found that automatic re-shielding missed the fifteen-minute deadline. We are fixing that defect before public release.

Is Instagram required?

No. Instagram is one example. In the free core you can protect one app you select through Apple's picker; the whole Scripture exchange and offline WEB Bible reader remain available. Support for more selected apps is planned for Pro, which is not yet for sale.
